Win either half

Win either half: The side wins the first half or the second

Win either half is settled on the two halves separately. The named team has to win the first half, or win the second half, or win both. Winning a half means outscoring the opponent inside that half only. The full-time score is not the settlement.

A team can draw the match and still win the bet. If it leads one-nil at half time and the match finishes one-one, it won the first half and drew the second, so win either half wins. A team can also lose the match and win the bet, if it loses the first half and wins the second: nil-one at the break, then two-one at full time.

The bet loses when the named team wins neither half. A nil-nil draw loses. A match the team wins one-nil, with the only goal in the second half and a blank first half, still wins the bet because the second half was won one-nil. A one-one draw in which each team scored in a different half can go either way depending on which half each goal fell in. The half-by-half score is what counts.

This is not the same as a full-time win, and it is not the same as leading at half time or full time. A team that is level in both halves has not won either half, even if you felt it was the better side.

On this page the published tip is win either half for the side named on the row. Confirm which team is named. A home version and an away version are opposite bets.

Because the bet can win in a draw or a loss, the price is often shorter than a straight match win. You are covering more ways for the half-scores to fall. That shorter price is the cost of the extra paths, not a sign that the result is safe.

You need a source that will show the score at half time, not only the full-time score, if you want to grade the bet yourself. Stake a fixed unit, and skip the row if you cannot see which team the tip names.
